NPTC UNIT 206 / 306 (CS38)
- LEVEL 2 AWARD IN ACCESSING A TREE USING ROPE AND HARNESS
- LEVEL 3 AWARD IN AERIAL TREE RESCUE OPERATIONS

OVERVIEW
Formerly known as CS38, this qualification does not involve the use of a chainsaw but covers the minimum requirements for a ground person working with a climber and conducting an aerial tree rescue.

This course is designed for arborists, tree surgeons, people who have jobs that require tree climbing or people wishing to enter the forestry industry

This qualification covers the accessing of trees through climbing (both ladders and using climbing equipment) and by Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) to carry out rescues in a variety of contexts (pruning operation, cutting, dismantle or rigging). The aerial rescues include recovery of both conscious and unconscious casualties. When carrying out aerial rescue you must maintain high standards of health and safety at all time for both yourself and the people you will come into contact with.

Climbing courses are very physical and candidates must be fit and able to carry out the tasks required of the course, including the carrying and movement of equipment in a woodland / forest environment. You must not suffer from vertigo or similar conditions and you must also be free from medication that could affect your safety.

Following training, the candidate is then assessed by an independently appointed NPTC Assessor and successful candidates will receive an NPTC Certificate of Competence & NPTC Skills Card.
